Saturday, March 22, 2014 On Saturday, March 22, 2014 at approximately 2010 hours, New Market was dispatched for one engine to respond to Edison for the 6th Alarm fire in a school. Firefighters had been feverishly trying to contain a fire at the James Monroe Elementary School, however the fire soon engulfed most of the school and a defensive attack was ordered. Engine-2 responded and provided lighting and manpower and returned to the District at approximately 0400 hours the next morning.
