Wednesday, February 5, 2014 The New Market Fire Department is asking for your help with the upcoming storm.
The Governor's State of Emergency remains in effect. There are no travel restrictions at this time; however, it is advised that you not travel during the storm unless absolutely necessary.
Please do not call Police Communications/9-1-1 about your street not being plowed for the upcoming storm. Piscataway DPW will get to your street once the snow stops and all the main arteries are clear. To help with the street clearing process, the Township is asking that you remove any vehicles from the side of the road if possible. Any vehicle parked on an Emergency Snow Route or state highway is subject to a ticket and will be towed at the owner's expense.
Misuse of 9-1-1 is against the law. Those caught making the call can and will be prosecuted. 9-1-1 is for life threatening emergencies only!
If you have a fire hydrant near your residence or business, the Fire Departments of Piscataway ask that you help them out and clear a 2-3’ area around the hydrant in case of an emergency.
In the event you experience a power outage, be sure to contact your service provider (PSE&G: 1-800-436-7734; Jersey Central Power & Light: 1-888-544-4877).
