We would like to thank Piscataway Township for a great picnic this afternoon for all volunteer fire, EMS, and OEM. The weather may have not been the best but we made the best of it!No amount of rain could stop Mayor Brian C. Wahler and Township Council members from thanking Piscataway’s many volunteer first responders at an appreciation BBQ held in their honor at Riverside Park today.

Piscataway’s own Senator Bob Smith, Middlesex County NJ Freeholder Kenneth Armwood, Sheriff Mildred S. Scott and former Mayor Ted Light were also on hand to thank our volunteer firefighters, rescue squad members and OEM & CERT personnel.

Shown among the photos are Council President Chanelle C. McCullum and 1st Lieutenant Robert Gorr of the Possumtown Fire Company as well as Senator Bob Smith talking with Possumtown Captain Bill Kerwin.

Enjoying a great meal today were members of Arbor Hose Company #1, Inc. - The Pride of the North Side, Arbor Rescue Squad, Holmes Marshall Fire Dept., New Market Fire Department, North Stelton Volunteer Fire Company, North Stelton Rescue Squad, Piscataway OEM & CERT, Possumtown Fire Company, River Road Fire Company and River Road Rescue Squad.

Piscataway is fortunate to have many volunteers for our fire companies and rescue squads, but we need more. Interested in serving? The New Market Fire Department may be reached at (732) 752-5161 and newmarketfd.com. It has open hours for interested people on Mondays through Thursdays from 6:30-10 p.m. at its headquarters at 801 S. Washington Avenue.
